The Somatic Cell Count (SCC) is widely accepted as classical method to prove the presence of udder inflammation called mastitis - the most important dairy disease.
The regular SCC control is the main part of process of prevention, detection and medical treatment of clinical and sub-clinical mastitis thus guaranteeing the good health status of dairy female animals. A lower SCC level is also correlated to higher and more appropriate levels of fats and proteins, longer shelf life (storage) of milk and better stability and quality of milk products.
